Controversial social media personality and activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), staged a dramatic protest on Sunday at the residence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in Abuja.

The protest comes in response to the ongoing strike by primary school teachers in the FCT, which has lasted fo over three months.

The teachers began their industrial action on March 24, 2025, over the refusal of Area Council Chairmen to implement the new national minimum wage of ₦70,000.

In a symbolic move, VeryDarkMan brought a group of children to the minister’s gate, declaring it their “new classroom.”

He was seen teaching the children and later serving them rice and chicken, reportedly provided by himself and a group of supporters.

When approached for comment by journalists, VDM declined to speak, focusing instead on the pupils.

“This is their classroom now,” he said briefly, pointing to the space outside the minister’s gate.

The unusual protest has stirred conversation online and drawn attention to the prolonged strike, which has kept thousands of pupils out of school across the capital.
