Panic gripped residents of Kano on Monday after an unidentified young man climbed a towering billboard near Gadar Lado along Zaria Road, threatening to take his own life if certain TikTok stars did not show up.

The dramatic scene drew a large crowd as passersby watched in disbelief while emergency responders and security operatives rushed to the location in a bid to avert tragedy.

According to the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the man insisted he would not come down unless some specific TikTok influencers he follows appeared at the scene.

“He specifically mentioned that if the celebrities he follows on TikTok don’t come, he will jump. May Allah prevent it,” Kiyawa wrote in a Facebook update.

However, rescue efforts were still ongoing, with security personnel working to talk the man down safely.
