A fuel-laden tanker overturned and exploded on Sunday at Iyana-Isolo, inward Oshodi, Lagos, sparking a fire that spread to at least four parked trucks.
Swift intervention by officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and other emergency responders helped prevent the blaze from escalating into a larger disaster.
Preliminary investigations by LASTMA indicated that the accident was caused by overspeeding, which made the tanker driver lose control of the vehicle.
“No human casualties were recorded, thanks to the swift intervention of LASTMA operatives and other agencies.
“The preservation of life and property is at the core of our operations.
“We remain committed to ensuring a safe and orderly traffic management system across Lagos State,” Bakare-Oki said.
