The Labour Party's publicity secretary, Ayobami Arabambi, has described the resignation of actor-turned-politician Kenneth Okonkwo from the party as a positive development, stating that Okonkwo's resignation is a result of getting rid of unwanted waste.
Okonkwo, who was the former spokesperson of the Labour Party presidential campaign council, had on Tuesday, February 11, tendered his resignation letter from the party.
Arabambi said: "Everybody knows the reason for the crisis in Labour Party is because of an attempt by certain individuals, injured players from lesser teams who came unknown into Labour Party, they hid their medicals only for us to discover when they got to Labour Party that they're not qualified.
"Oshotokun came to your studio to say that they were unable to pay them. That was not the business of Peter Obi; he had confidence in them that they would do well, but we never knew that some of them were injured players from where they're coming from. We're going to guard against most of these anomalies.
"And that is why for us today, like the honorable that just left, they should not go and rest; we're coming strongly; there's no crisis of leadership in the Labour Party.
"Labour Party is not going to extinction, and we wish Mr. Kenneth Okonkwo well; his resignation is a good riddance to bad rubbish."
