A video making the rounds on social media shows moment a-yet-to-be -identified Nigerian man assaulted a police officer and slapped one of the environmental officers who were trying to make arrests.

The incident occurred in the Kokori community in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State on Thursday.

In the video clip seen by FirstNews, the man was slapping one of the environmental officers while restraining a police officer, preventing him from retaliating as another individual attacked him.

According to eyewitnesses who commented on the video said the officers arrived in the community to execute a bench warrant against the suspect.

The situation quickly escalated as the man and his accomplices confronted the officials.

A Facebook user who claimed to be an eyewitness, known as Richard Pius, wrote,"They were attacked by the defendant and his thugs."

The video also showed the suspect walking up to a police officer seated in a Sienna car and hitting him.

When the brutalised police officer confronted him about his torn uniform, the suspect boasted that nothing would happen.

All efforts to reach the Delta State Police spokesperson, DSP Edafe Bright, via his X handle prove
abortive.
