Following a horrific road accident that claimed the lives of seven Federal University Lokoja (FUL) students and their bus driver, students are protesting in Kogi State.
A truck collided with the university's shuttle bus, resulting in the tragic loss of lives.
Photos trending online on Wednesday show how some students were protesting to demand immediate actions from relevant authorities to avert similar fatal accidents within the school environment.
The angry students have demanded that heavy-duty trucks be restricted from operating during the daytime to prevent further tragedies.
A Facebook user, identified as Grace Timothy, confirmed to Thewatch Africa that one of her coursemates was involved in the accident.
According to her, after their lectures that afternoon, the female lecturer (Name Unknown) asked some of the students to leave if they weren't going to wait for the next class, which was supposed to start by 4pm the same day.
"Which I knew that my coursemate was going to be a victim, I wouldn't have allowed her to go," she added.
About seven students died instantly after the accident.
However, the exact number of casualties could not yet be confirmed, several bodies had been deposited at the morgue for identification, while injured victims were taken to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, and the Kogi State Specialist Hospital for treatment.
