Nigerian gospel singer arrested for beheading girlfriend, body parts recovered in Abuja

A Nigerian gospel singer, identified as Timileyin Ajayi has been apprehended for killing and beheading his girlfriend.

Thewatch Africa gathered that the suspect was caught by churchgoers during a service. 

He was found with a sack containing the severed head of his girlfriend.

This was disclosed in a Facebook post shared by one Umaru Caleb, a church member, stating that the suspect was apprehended during a Sunday service.

A fellow congregant reportedly felt compelled to stop the suspect and inspect the contents of a sack he was carrying. Upon investigation, the sack was found to contain the fresh head of the suspect's girlfriend.

The congregant was horrified to discover the freshly severed head of a young woman, who appeared to have recently braided her hair in a stylish "million braids" fashion.

The church member immediately raised an alarm, prompting other worshippers to rush outside.

The suspect was severely beaten by the mob and subsequently interrogated about the origin of the severed head.

According to reports, he revealed that the victim was his girlfriend, who had travelled from a distant location to visit him.

A video currently making the rounds on social media  shows the suspect, seated on the ground, being questioned by onlookers. He claims that a heated argument with his girlfriend escalated, resulting in her death.

According to his account, she grabbed a knife during the altercation, and in his attempt to disarm her, he inadvertently stabbed her fatally. He then admits to dismembering her body to facilitate disposing of the remains.

Ajayi also claimed the remaining parts of the body were in his house.

However, the police were called to take him away.

Caleb's post read, “ I got the shock of my life as we apprehend a Yahoo ritualist with human head (his girlfriend) inside a nylon close to our church as we were holding service.

“I thought I just used to watch things like this until I experienced one ‘Live’ today.

“And this guy said the remaining body of the girl is still in his house.

“God have mercy on this generation.

“You can see a video of where the head of the fair-complexioned lady was brought out of the bag below.”

According to sources, the victim's father had passed away in June, 2024.

She had been in a romantic relationship with the gospel singer for over a year, with hopes that their partnership would eventually end in marriage.

Meanwhile, police authorities in Abuja are yet to issue an official statement in respect to the development.
